Spotlight on Our Keynote Speaker – Joseph Audette, M.A., M.D.
2pm – 5pm
The ASM is fortunate to have Dr. Joseph Audette as our Keynote Speaker at this year’s annual meeting. He is a part-time professor at Harvard medical school as well as Chief of the Department of Spine, Physiatry and Pain Management at Atrius Health and Harvard Vanguard. He leads a multi-disciplinary team for pain management including Physiatry, Anesthesia, PT and Psychology where they also integrate acupuncture, massage, chiropractic and mind body strategies.
Dr. Audette is a recognized world expert in acupuncture and the use of acupuncture point verification methods, a leader in the use of acupuncture needle techniques for the treatment of acute and chronic pain and a renowned researcher in acupuncture, widely published and interviewed.
His lecture will cover 2 topics: Fascial Node Trigger Point Needling: An Acupuncture Tensegrity Needling© Approach. Dr. Audette’s initial experience with myofascial pain and trigger points was a personal one involving a shoulder injury during his medical residency. His early treatments did not provide pain relief. Fortunately his residency program invited the head of a local acupuncture school to come and discuss acupuncture and that was the start of an incredible journey of teaching, interviews, awards and more. Then Chronic Pain and Neuroplasticity: Can Acupuncture Rewire the Brain? This is a key area that Dr. Audette has focused on with his research, which has been published and referenced nationally.
If these are key areas that you currently focus on or topics you are interested in learning more, be sure to join us on 9/15.
