Chinese medicine operates from three perspectives – preventative, therapeutic, and restorative care – each involving different emphases and strategies, with the recognition that the bodymindspirit continuum has varied reactions due to its level of healing. This seminar will explore and focus on the dynamics of the bodymindspirit continuum during the recovery process and the energetics associated with restoration and rehabilitation. Notably, the course will examine the changes in physiology within immunity (wei qi), blood and fluids (ying qi), and genetics (yuan qi) when an individual is returning back to wellness (hui chun). With the understanding that acupuncture points, herbs, and other tools of Chinese medicine elicit different reactions based on the health of the individual, we will discern which agents are more appropriate during this phase of healing, and more importantly, why certain therapeutic approaches may be contraindicated during recovery. Lastly, the class will discuss the role of the mind and spirit within this process.
